Chronic Encephalitis (Rasmussen's Syndrome) and Ipsilateral Uveitis Ann Neurol 32:826-829, Harvey,A.S.,et al, 1992 See this aricle in Pubmed Article Abstract Two children are reported with acute uveitis during the early progrsssive phase of chronic encephalitis(Rasmussen's syndrome).In both children,the side of the uveitis was ipsilateral to the side of cerbral inflammation, although in 1 child rhter were milder inflammatory changes in the contralateral eye.This association adds weight to the viral hypothesis of chronic encephalitis and rasies the possibility of primary ocular infection and neurotropic spread to the brain.
