We describe a patient with human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)infection who developed mononeuritis multiplex associated with polyclonal(type III) cryoglobulinemai. The patient's symptoms stabilized following treatment with plasmapheresis and removal of the cryoglobulin. Our case represents the first report of polyclonal cryoglobulinemia in HIV disease and suggests that cryoglobulinemia may play an etiologic role in some aptients with HIV-associated neuropathy. |
