Usefulness of Checking Platelet Count Before Thrombolysis in Acute Ischemic Stroke
Stroke 38:1639-1640, Cucchiara,B.L.,et al, 2007

Article Abstract
An unsuspected platelet count <100000 was found in 0.3% of patients at stroke presentation. In patients without a history of thrombocytopenia or predisposing factors, the benefit of earlier thrombolysis may outweigh the bleeding risk of inadvertently treating a patient with thrombocytopenia.
