Brain abscess is a life-threatening condition in which the overall mortality ranges from 20 to 50%(1,2).Multiple brain abscesses(MBA), although rare,carry a higher mortality rate than solitary brain abscess.In two early series all patients with MBA died(1,2).In a recent series the mortality rate of solitary abscess was 18%,whereas that of MBA was 29%(2). To reduce the mortality,a precise diagnosis provided by CT together with early surgical and medical treatment is mandatory(2-4).Multiple brain abscesses with numerous lesions are rarely seen(4).This report describes a patient who had>20 pyogenic brain abscesses,some of which were in a chain and some were in a cluster. |
