Article Abstract
The surgical treatment of primary intracerebral hemorrhage(PICH)varies throughout the world, mainly because of the lack of evidence of its safety and effectiveness. This study compares the outcome of patients with PICH who are treated surgically with those who are not. There is insufficient evidence of the risks and benefits of surgery for PICH.Furthermore randomized trials are needed to identify whether there is a favorable treatment effect of surgery, the types of PICH and patients who are likely to benefit and not benefit, and the safety and effectiveness of the different surgical interventions.
