Physical Activity and Stroke Mortality in Women, Ten-Year Follow-Up of the Nord-Trondelag Health Survey, 1984-1986 Stroke 31:14-18, Ellekjaer,H.,et al, 2000 See this aricle in Pubmed Article Abstract Physical activity was associated with reduced risk of death form stroke in middle-aged and elderly women. This association persisted after we excluded individuals with prevalent cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease at baseline and w omen who died during the first 2 years of follow-up. These observations strengthen the evidence that physical activity should be part of a primary prevention strategy against stroke in women.
