Polymyositis is an overdiagnosed entity. At evaluation, more than half the patients with autoimmune myositis cannot be specifically diagnosed with polymyositis or dermatomyositis. A quarter of patients with isolated unspecified myositis subsequently developed connective tissue disease. |
